3D filming. The way of the future?

We always like to keep up to date with the latest developments. And there isn’t anything more up-to-date than 3D.

If you’re thinking 3D camera work is only for big-budget films like Avatar, well think again. You can use 3D videography for your corporate film, television production - even wedding video! We started filming in 3D in 2010 - before any of the manufacturers had even released their first professional 3D video camera!

How did we do it? Well filming in 3D is essentially just requires two images to be recorded side by side and put together in post production. So we took 2 identical cameras with identical lenses and fastened them together.

It’s not quite so easy, as you need to make sure the camera alignments are correct. This means we needed a special frame built to exact standards - within a tenth of a millimetre.

And the results are impressive. Unfortunately we can’t show you over the internet as you need a special 3D screen and glasses.
